Visit the Hanthorn Cannery Museum
The Hanthorn Cannery Museum is in Astoria, Oregon at the end of 39th Street.
It is located over the water on Pier 39 at the east end of the waterfront.
Opening hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily.
There is no admission charge, donations are appreciated!
The museum is self-guided; the staff are volunteers.
Important Driving Information
Access to the pier is via a long planked causeway, please drive slowly at a maximum speed of 5 mph.
Parking is limited on the forecourt of the pier. Do not park inside the building, this is reserved for tenants only!
Parking on busy days may not be easy and will require your full attention!
If the parking area appears to be full, or nearly full, please consider walking out, if you are able.
There are no restrictions on parking on 39th Street.
On the Pier
Wear sensible shoes on the pier. You will be walking on planks and other uneven surfaces so please “watch your step.”
Do not allow children out of your sight. Beyond the Coffee Girl, the dock does not have handrails or barriers.
This pier is the original home of the famous Bumble Bee brand. You will see an extensive display of gillnetter boats,
cannery and fishing equipment that you can touch. There is a fascinating 1960 black & white TV program lasting
25 minutes about the cannery and the workers. The pier also houses offices, vacation rentals, event spaces and retail businesses,
including the Coffee Girl, Rogue Ales, Four Winds Canvas, Hanthorn Crab, Vineside Winebar.
